Sega System 24
Re: Sega System 24
Well, I spoke too soon.
Most games work on this system fine, however there is one that uses a different sector layout called hotrod, this loads but is amazingly slow to a point where it is causing issues in the game due to the loading time being so far out.
For instance:
Hot Rod - 6 Sectors 8k,1k,1k,1k,512b,256b
Scramble Spirits - 7 Sectors 2k,2k,2k,2k,2k,1k,256b
Scramble Spirits runs fine, however hotrod is a lot slower on the HxC compared to a real floppy disk and is causing issues within the software.

Re: Sega System 24
ok. Do you know if the present sector order (8k,1k,1k,1k,512b,256b) is the right one on the floppy disk ?Ordyne wrote:Well, I spoke too soon.

Re: Sega System 24
Hi Jeff,
I know that is the correct sector order for the original floppy disk.
I dont have this in .s24, just in HFE & Raw format as this was read from a FDD with the HxC software. I can also read it in with Anadisk or Teledisk if needed?
Please let me know.

Hi Jeff,
All seems to be working fine at the moment, I will do some more testing but everything seems good so far.

Re: Sega System 24
I'm having the same problem with my new HxC SD Slim, but changing the interface in the config file does absolutely nothing. I can set it on completely ridiculous settings and it still works but only if I switch dip #2 to on after the machine is turned on.
Re: Sega System 24
update the your firmware with the latest one.

Re: Sega System 24
Hi, I have a Rev F HxC on the way from Lotharek, but I wanted to check:
I am trying to fix a US/World 4-player Hot Rod. I believe that means that I want to use the ds3-5000-01a-rev-c.img file from MAME.
Can someone confirm that is the right file? (The bad disk that is in the game now has no label on it )
Also, can someone just give me a quick list of the main steps to convert that? (I don't think that a patch is required anymore since the software has been updated...but according to YouTube comments to the videos posted above, it sounds like I may need to pass the MAME .img file through the software more than once? Just looking for what the updated workflow would be...)
Thank you!

Re: Sega System 24
Drop me a message and I can send you the files over..
Re: Sega System 24
To make it easy here is the config for sys24, this is assuming you want to start with the same image which you will need to rename to STARTUPA.HFE
Re: Sega System 24
Thanks for the reply! That's definitely helpful. I would love to get your file, but for the life of me can't figure out how to PM you on here. Not sure if I need a minimum number of posts or something for PM's to be enabled?
