Hxc Revision C - Buzzer not working?

Post by RetroMJ »

Hi guys,

Recently received one of these and I'm very happy with it with only one problem, the buzzer (for UI sounds and track sound) doesn't seem to work at all. The volume is set to 100% and enabled in the config, I've reset the settings and set them via the board itself (without using an SD card config file) and still can't get any track sound.

Am I missing something obvious or is the buzzer broken?

Thanks in advance.

Damn.

It looks like it's damaged, cracked (not not entirely) and lifted about 1 mm from the rest.

Must have been damaged in transit or something as I've not touched that part of the PCB and it has never worked since day one. Any ideas what to do about it?

Close up (as close as I could get any way) of the damaged Q2 section of the buzzer:

Looks considerably worse but you can see the crack. :(

From the look of things this can't be repaired my end because I clearly don't have the microchip that is broken. Really disappointed now and was hoping it was simply a faulty buzzy. Given it's only been in the Amiga once and that's when I noticed the lack of UI sounds, there's no way this was damaged by myself.

This not a microchip but a simple transistor.

Any way please contact Lotharek for an exchange/repair service.
(i will send the link to this thread).

Thanks, didn't think it was a chip but couldn't figure out what it was (too small for my eyes, lol).

I will have to contact him and hopefully get it serviced.
