I could not read the patch2 file.
I loaded the Old flute sound and saved it to the blank file. Looks like it saved alright, but i could not load it again
EDIT : WrittenToBlank.zip removed.

update to the attached firmware and write to the attached blank.qd and post it here.

OK - update to 3.4.6.5a and saved to blank disk. No load after save.

Sorry - it was no problem saving the file, but I could not load or verify after saving without getting the bad data error.

Have you the usb serial cable ? It will be time to use it to see some debug output.

I have the USB serial. I am on a mac at home, so I can give it a shot tomorrow.

Must admit, I have not played around too much with terminal SW. Is there any specific program you would recommend I should look into?

For the moment just try the above firmware.
I have added the S700 format into the HxC QD tool kit software. It is now able to check the data and convert the S700 QD images to wav.
Is the attached wav file sound like to what you have recorded yesterday ?

hah - yes it does, it is just me scratching the surface of the x7000 with a contact mic, to the input. I'll try do something more exiting next time.
