Hi
Here is a sample bank (Bass Drum) saved on the latest fw.
Nearly there...

Thanks. So it definitively uses the "x7000" method to synchronize the MFM decoder. Not surprised since both machines use the same QD controller.
What surprise me is how you could read these Roland images before this fw fix ? Some kind of luck i suppose : Data was maybe aligned correctly ?

(Btw the drum wav
sample.wav.zip
(10.55 KiB) Downloaded 186 times
)

So for the verify error, i think that we should have a look to the reset line. Can you check if this line is asserted during a write/verify cycle ?

I see glitches from previous write attempts in your image.
Can you try to save on this one ?

Hi all. I'm new to this thread and I'm slightly overwhelmed by the number of test QD-images that is available.

I haven't found anything yet that doesn't say "Illegal QD", but I must admit I haven't tried all of them. If I select a different image on the Gotek, the S10 correctly goes to "Insert QD", so it does notice a disk change. After the change the OLED outputs "RD" in the lower left corner, so I assume that is coming in correctly as well.

As the S10 blocks normal operation on detecting an "illegal" QD, I can't check if it will write to a blank QD.

Does anyone have a know working Roland S10 disk image?

Try the above Qd image :
download/file.php?id=1558
(rename it DSKA0000.QD if you are using the indexed mode)
Write something to the image. You will probably have a "VERIFY ERROR" message, but after this you can read back the image. (This "glitch" will be fixed).
If anyway you always have "Illegal QD" this is maybe a wiring issue. What is displayed on the Gotek and which firmware version have you ?
(Btw Please share the QD image after your write attempt, i will check it).

After writing the above post I came across an earlier "0004" image that does allow me to write (with verify error) and properly read back, so that might be the same image. But will verify that this one works as well.

My Gotek is currently three button with OLED, so I can name it whatever is needed. Will probably change to rotary encoder later.
Firmware is 3.4.7.1a

Just checked. The "BlankRoland.QD" gives me an Illegal QD.
The working DSKA0004.QD is also slightly bigger than the BlankRoland one (205kB vs 197kB)

Ok interesting. Can you share your saved working image ?

Yes, no problem (attached). I've saved over it a couple of times.

It's 004 from this post: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=773&start=210#p21195

Thanks.

Can you update to the attached firmware (v3.4.7.2) and write to each attached files ? Is there one file without verify error ?
Are the files readable after the write attempt ?
(please share them here after the test)

Firmware 3.4.7.3a

All 7 files fail on verify
File 4 can't be read after written (I/O Error 2)
Some failed when loading straight after writing, but were fine after power down/up. Fail either with I/O Error 2 or Illegal QD.

Attached are 7 written images.
