emulator finally arrived - help with edge connector!

After ordering another floppy drive emulator the first one arrived in the meantime, can you believe it over 2 months to get here. South African postal service not the greatest. Anyway sorry about my b!tch&moan post earlier ( you can delete the post now ) special thanx to lotharek for sending everything on time so close to the holidays!

Anyway the machine I would like to use the emulator on has an edge connector floppy, is there an easy way to convert from an edge connector to the dual in-line connector? I'm checking out the following two links and there seem to be a couple differences, like there are 2 selects and 2 motor enables on the dual in line as apposed to the 4 selects and 1 motor enable on the edge connector. (do these actually matter with no actual drives?)

It seems the floppy I need to copy isn't a FAT filesystem, its possibly ext of sorts. How would I create an image? could I dd it from linux? Is it possible to create just a blank image? as I can get our machine to write the config from memory to the floppy.
