HxC SD Floppy broken?

Post by Kubi »

Hi community!

The HxC is attached to a sampler HS-1E and it worked fine.
As I started the sampler today it automaticly loads from the HxC.
I detached the SD-Card to load a new sound bank but nothing happens.
I have tried all the other files....same result.
Then I connect the original disk and the sampler is loading.
Then I saw on the the display the message "no SD_Card" but it was in.
As i toucht the SD-Card it was gone and I had the normal display.
I touched the board with light pressure and it starts to beep several times when I raise the pressure.
That sounds not relly healthy to me.
Does someone know how to test if this working properly?

Best Regards,
Kubi

This is maybe a power supply problem. Check that the power connector is fine.

Hi!

It arrived today. It is working but veeeeeery slow.
I have chosen "Mode: Generic Shugart; Drive A Mode: Custom; Pin 2 : Density; Pin 34: Ready".

I have left all the other boxes unchecked.

Any idea?

I got it!!!!

I am on my knees and pray for forgiveness :D

The module must be OK from the start. I have figured out what has happened....
First of all, I am a guy like million others, who dont really cares about manuals.
In that case I was totally wrong.
I had now studied the manaul but I was wondering why this looks very outdated (2011).
Then I have found an additonal maual (Software user manual) from 2013 (also not actual though) in which was explained
what you have to do before converting image files...

First you have to define the Emulator settings!!!!! and then you have to convert your images!!! Add the saved *.CFG file to your *.hfe files
and copy them to your SD-Card and everything will be fine.

What happened to me was that I wasnt aware about this settings...I thought when I once saved the settings they will be there.
My device is not able to work with the standard settings which have 2 drives for example. The PIN 34 is very important:
HxC2001Settings.PNG
HxC2001Settings.PNG (34.68 KiB) Viewed 6478 times

!!!! At every start of the Software the settings are loaded with standard settings which are NOT your saved settings!!!!

Now, as I haved converted all my imagefiles in one step to *.hfe files, everything will be fine. I havent realized that the settings
are also stored in the *.hfe files. So I had different settings in my testfiles before which I haved added one after another.

I hope this could be helpful for others. Now, I can enjoy this fine Masterpiece of Floppy Emulator :D

Best Regards,
Kubi
