HxC to replace an 8" drive

Post by FCross »

While I play around with getting the HxC to work with the FC1 interface board, I also have a pair of very old 8" drives that I would like to replace. I have the pinouts for the drive itself and I would have to make a cable since the drive uses a 50 pin connector. I know that not all of the control lines are needed with the HxC, has anyone made such a cable and would have the list of the pin to pin conversion?

Thanks

In addition, I recommend you look at the manual for the actual floppy drive controller and floppy drive hardware - there can be subtle variations, depending on what the actually controller used. Drive and controller information can often be located at "bitsavers" at http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/ . To get a general idea of what the 50 pin interface pins are, you might look at the Sugart 800 series and the Siemens 8" drives.

I posted a cabling schematic at http://www.zedex.us/zendex-zx.html

Click the button on the bottom left of the Page that reads MDS-SA800-SA400 adapter.

This Adapter is for sale by Zedex.us

Nothing very standard about the SA800 interface, this is what it takes for the Intel MDS to Shugart SA801. Intel uses radial ready. What differences do you see Jeff?
