I don't know if all the floppy emulators from Ebay will work with the hfe files, but I know HxC works, maybe you should try it, it also can be bought through Ebay.

I just bought a USB floppy emulator drive from ebay. If it doesn't work I will get HxC version.

I will let you know of the progress.

Thanks 10x!
My email is gyochev@abv.bg

It is a very good starting point for me, knowing it has been tried and tested. Meanwhile I had a look at eBay - I will purchase a floppy emulator. I would consider using Google translate if this is the only option.

Thanks again!

Have you tried to dump/read the disks with the hxc software ?

No of course !
The HFE format make a big difference versus the "usb floppy emulator"

Unlike the HxC, these emulators only support these formats : 9 sectors*80 tracks*2 sides or 18 sectors*80tracks*2sides, without any kind of copy protection support.

hello all!

I just managed to get another mcs 2000 sl back to life!
it is a machine in very good condition with german software.

it was build in 1992 and was "upgraded" until 1998 with diesel smoke control and other "goodies".

dumping the copy-protected non-IBM-floppies with the HxC software was (thanks to this forum and thread!!) quite easy.
I had a stock of about 15 different discs 7, of them with bad sectors. :-(
but I managed to dump the V552 system disc and the v552 AU-2 disc to .hfe files.
this ist a matching late twin-disc version enabling the MCS2000It to test 3-12cyl. engines with free programs or test the lambda control system for german exhaust emission control test.

HxC emulator was set to "Emu Shugart", sound to maximum, lights and device "on"....the scrolling filename ist difficult to read, but as there are only two files this is OK.

see: SUN MCS2000 SL

Thanks to the HxC-team and netanel

greetings from Germany
Thomas

hi jeff,

as you can see on page 2 at the .pdf,
I "slowed down" the scroll text...

I'll try to make a video next week.

regards
thomas
