HI,

the documentation is a little unclear, in Shugart mode, can I select ID's other than "A" (DS0) and "B" (DS1)?

I have two existing drives and I'd like to be able to select "DS2" and "DS3"

regards
Dave

Of course you can, but the question is : Is your system have the DS2 / DS3 lines ?

I also want to try this!
What is the setting for DS2/DS3? (Enterprise 64/128 can handle 4 drives.)

Hi Jeff,

that's great - yes, my system can support 4 floppys and has DS0, DS1, DS2 and DS3 lines on its interface.

Could you tell me how to set up the links for IDs 2 and 3 (3rd and 4th drives) please?

My cased emulator arrived 10 minutes ago and I'm itching to give it a try

regards
Dave

Have the floppy interface schematic of your system ?

I wrote this page describing the disk controller

http://www.primrosebank.net/computers/mtx/mtxdisksFDX.htm

Does this tell you what you need?

Yes :
ID0 <> /DS0
ID1 <> /DS1
ID2 <> /DS2

For ID3 you need to get the signal from the wire 6 of the floppy cable.

Hi Jeff,

I'm afraid that you have lost me. What do you mean, I need to "get the signal from wire 6"?

Do you mean that I need to make some modification to the HxC?

As for the pinning on the HxC, is it just :-
first jumper = ID0
second jumper = ID1
third jumper = ID2
fourth jumper = ID3

regards
Dave

Jeff,

What am I supposed to do with wire 6?

Not only is it not wired from the board to the interface connector, I don't think that the DS3 signal is used anywhere on the board?

It does not look like DS3 can work at all?

regards
Dave

Make a bridge with a wire between the signal N°6 and one of the common point of the switch block (drive a or b). of course the 4 switches of the virtual drive used should be set to OFF.

Hi Jeff,

before I start modifying the HxC, can you confirm that the internal wiring of the Cased SD HxC will support DS3 and that the firmware will recognise the 4th drive please?

I have not found a schematicv for the SD version, only the USB one, and the USB schematic certainly suggests that the USB version would support DS3.
Can you confirm that either the schematic is wrong, or that there is a difference between the USB version and the SD version in this regard. I think this may be the case as the USB version seems to be only for a PC - and modern PCs only supports two floppies anyway.

What do you mean by the "four switches of the virtual drive should be off"?

Are you talking about the ID jumpers on the HxC?

If I want to use DS2 and DS3, then I need DS2 pinned on the jumper block as well as the wire grounding Line 6 on the DS3 jumper block

regards
Dave

The schematic is there :
http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... or_Kit.zip

With your system DS3 = Wire 6. So you have to connect this wire to one hxc drive select (after the jumper block).
In fact with the rev c you have just to make a bridge between the wire 6 and one row of the jumper block.
Please have a look to the schematic.
