Support for ATARI 800 .ATR file
Support for ATARI 800 .ATR file
can the Hxc support ATR file to connect the drive emulator to the ATARI by replacing the IBM 360DD mech of the XFF551 drive?
Re: Support for ATARI 800 .ATR file
What is the low level format used ? FM, MFM or GCR ?ndary wrote:can the Hxc support ATR file to connect the drive emulator to the ATARI by replacing the IBM 360DD mech of the XFF551 drive?
Re: Support for ATARI 800 .ATR file
The XF551 Disk Drive is MFM drive, it set use 5¼" floppy disk, double-density double-sided, 360 KB
(MFM 80 tracks x 18 sectors/track x 256 bytes/sector = 360K capacity)
the ATR (Atari Disk Image Format) is described here: https://github.com/jhallen/atari-tools#image-formats
The interest is to connect my GOTEK drive to the XF551 drive board (replace it with the MFM 360K Mech), and be able to load and boot ATARI 800 / XL disk images (ATR files) from a pen drive
is the difference between a Gotek Drive and HXC Drive is just firmware?
Thanks a lot for any help here

try it, but this is probably buggy since the explanation about the three DD format is very ambiguous about the 3 first sectors.
I will have to found some others source of informations.
Re: Support for ATARI 800 .ATR file
Thank you Jeff,
i would gladly beta test this..
currently i have these two devices her
1) HXC Floppy Emulator REV C cased black - http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=18
2) Slim Rev A - http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=115
since i am new to this can you point me to the instructions what i need to do to get these to support ATR files?
eventually i would like to order the Rev F (white case) and mount it in the XF551 drive.
