@Jeff

Thanks for that, I was trying to look at a Trs-80 Model 1 Single Density Single sided
To add some file to it But it looks like it is not suitable for the Trs-80.

Is it possible to include some Trs-80 formats in the File Browser Thanks

@Jeff

Hi Jeff

I am having Problem using .DMK files on a Trs-80 Model 1 using SINGLE DENSITY Double sided 80 Track disk Images.
I can convert them to work on the TRS-80 which works well. ONLY if I use .JV1 or .JV3 .

If I use DMK then AFTER conversion to .HFE I get Parity Errors ???
I have verified this concern after making numerous test volumes.

The problem is 80 Track DOUBLE Sided SINGLE Density .DMK Volumes.

I have tested this concern on a Mac and a PC using HxCFloppyEmulator v2,0,20,0.
Is this Fixable ??

( Bump )

I am still having Problem using .DMK files on a Trs-80 Model 1 using SINGLE DENSITY Double sided 80 Track disk Images.
If I use .DMK files then AFTER conversion to .HFE I get Parity Errors.

The .JV3 and the .DMK files were made with TrSTools Version 1.12 By Mathew Reed 2014 On a PC

Are you able to fix this concern, Please

Is your JV3 and DMK files supposed to have the same data?

Where/when did you get this parity error ?

Hi Jeff

Both the JV3 and the DMK files were made the same way from a working JV3 Volume ( made with Sdltrs on a Mac ).
Both were tested on the Sdltrs emulator on a Mac, and had no errors.

They were then Converted on a Mac using HxcFloppyEmulator v2.0.22.0.
A New HXCSDFE.CFG was created and saved to the sd card (First) and then they were then copied to a Newly formatted SD Card,

I was able to Boot the xxxxxx_DMK.HFE on the Model 1, I then did a " Dir " , it read the Directory and then came back with " SyS Error"
I then Mounted the xxxx.JV3.HFE and did the same test and it worked perfectly.

Sorry for the delay, i will check this WE.
What i can tell is that the hxc software see differences between JV3 and DMK version if the image.
Will check if this is an bug, or if the image are really different.

Ok got a close look to your files :

-> There is differences between JV3 and DMK version, but this is normal : The differences are well present into the DMK.
-> I have convert back the "DMK HFE" file to JV3 and DMK with the HxC Software and tried them with TRS32. Both images works without issue.

Can you try the attached jv3 image ? this one was created with the hxc software directly from the hfe created from the dmk file.

Hi Jeff

I tested the image LM180DMK_DMK_HFE.jv3 in the Emulator (sdltrs) and NO parity errors.

Then Converted LM180DMK_DMK_HFE.jv3 to .HFE

Then Refomatted SD card, Created a New Config file, copied LM180DMK_DMK_HFE.jv3.HFE to SD Card.

Turned on Model 1, Selected LM180DMK_DMK_HFE.jv3.HFE and it worked perfectly.

Please tell me how to convert DMK's to working HFE's

Hi Jeff

Checked the file LM180DMK_DMK_HFE_jv3.dmk in the Emulator (sdltrs) OK.
Converted to .HFE LM180DMK_DMK_HFE_jv3_dmk.HFE
Reformatted SD Card, Put new HXCSDFE.CFG on card
Copied LM180DMK_DMK_HFE_jv3_dmk.HFE to SD Card

Booted Model 1 Works OK No Errors.

Ok so some possiblities :
- The Index Mark is need for the model 1 : This one is not present into your DMK
- The Index signal is too near from the first sector. : There is a very little gap at the beginning of the track.
- There is something wrong with some sector encoding or into a gap into the DMK ?

doing the DMK->JV3->DMK conversion with the HxC software "clean up" the image, and seems to make the image working, but let me some time to check this.

Things to do in your side :
- Tell me at which track/side the machine give this error on the non working HFE.
- Try the non-working image with this firmware:
https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... rmware.zip

If no change :
- Try to convert the non-working DMK into the HFE file (Rev 2 - Experimental) version and try it on the machine.

Hi Jeff

After Updating the Firmware to HXCFE_V1_8_6_11a.

I am UNABLE to recreate a Faulty DMK Disk ?? (sys error)
None of the Hardware has changed, Sd Card the Same, Model 1 the Same Etc ---> .
Mac and Pc the Same.
I am at a loss as to what's changed Perhaps the firmware has fixed the concern.

If I use "HFE file (Rev 2 - Experimental) (*.hfe)"
I am ABLE to recreate a Faulty DMK Disk ?? (sys error)
The errors are back, starting at sector 15 Side1 Sector 5.and continue with errors ----->>>>
