Fast forward to access samples

Post by jfrohwei »

Hello,

I recently got my HxC rev F emulator and it works really well. I plan
on putting this one on a friends old Centroid 15 CNC mill using DOS 6.0,
but I'd like to order another one to put on my Casio FZ-1 keyboard.

Using a 32GB SD card, I think I figured out I could put the equivalent
of 8000 floppy disks on one SD card. The Casio FZ-1 has, atleast, 200
different sound floppy disks. Each only contains one sample. It would
be nice to have a setup where one could quickly advance to the next
set of sounds, on the SD card. i.e If you hold down the right button
for X seconds, instead of slowly scrolling from file 100TromboneBrass.xxx
to 102TrumpetBrass.xxx to 103xxxBrass.xxx, you jump to the next range of
instruments. i.e. 201BassGuitar.xxx, 202xxxGuitar.xxx.

XM radio uses a similar setup to allow jumping between a group of
comedy, classical music, rap music, etc. styles.

Is there a way to do that with the HxC rev F that I have? I realize
I could put most often used sounds in files 001xxxBrass.xxx,
002xxxStrings.xxx, but this doesn't allow me to quickly access
unoften used sounds.

If this feature is not available, I will gladly send some cash as a
form of bribery if it will help. I don't have a lot of income, but
I would be willing to send something in exchange for motivation. :)

Thanks,
Jeff

Not sure to well understand, but you can store the images into folder. Isn't it enough ?

Somehow I missed that in the manual. I knew I could do folders in a disk
HFE file, but didn't realize I could also do folders in the root of the SD card.
I just tried it and it works well. It works better than the idea I proposed.

I'm really glad I got this floppy emu instead of some of the cheaper junk
on eBay. It really works well and is easy to use. It took me over a year
to get it, but that was only because my roommate (or his girlfriend)
wasn't signing for it when it showed up, or telling me about it, and I
was traveling and couldn't sign for it, so it got returned maybe multiple
times, running up my shipping bill. Well worth the wait!

Thanks!
Jeff
