Stm32 Serial Bridge

Post by Loren_sf_ca »

Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to hear this problem and propose a solution!

Here is a youtube describing where i am stuck

http://youtu.be/asp-nWVpUg0

And still images of where the connections are made on the ftd1232 and the gotek emulator

When the day comes (hopefully soon) that i have success flashing the emulator i plan to install into 3 mirages, an emax1, fz10m, possibly an akai s20

If i am not missing steps i thought that i would need a fat formatted usb drive with the hxcfeusb...upd software and once the flashed emulator has loaded that i would need to run HxC floppy emulator 'floppy disk dump' of a mirage os floppy, and either 'floppy disk dump' other mirage floppies or 'load' *.hfe floppy image (that could be renamed from omniflop *.img)

Thanks for any help/suggestions, right now i am stuck at 'link is up/link is down' when attempting to flash firmware to gotek

I was also wondering if the floppy cable orientation would need to be reversed for the gotek to talk with mirage, and if any jumper settings needed to be changed since it would have to emulate a 720k drive?

heard back from Jeff via email and was not able to connect to the server due to a space copied at the beginning of password :? After removing the bridge/programming wire and loading upd file, the gotek now displays hXc on led display. I am hoping to figure out how to use this one as a floppy emulator in an ensoniq mirage rack, here are two videos of results so far

I have the autoload cfg file and masos.hfe renamed to diska0001.hfe in the root directory of the usb drive..

No.

The Mirage is quite agreeable when it comes to such things. Just make sure your HFE files are set to Generic Shugart and you're good.

Thanks for the Reply!

Wish i was good :)

Here are the images showing points i can get no further from

With the floppy ribbon connected notch down i get message 'nd' flashing on disply of mirage rack

With floppy ribbon connected notch up i get message '--' on the display on the mirage but the green led is lit next to the selector buttons

Both cable orientations show flashing light activity on the usb stick

Pressing selector buttons up or down never change the gotek display to numbers, just a static 'hXc' in both scenarios

Is it usual to see the size of the disk image increase from 440kb to 1961kb when converting from edm to hfe using 'generic shugart' settings?

The Mirage will boot with a '--' and solid green. Once the OS is loaded then the green light will go out.

I'm pretty sure your problem is that you don't have an HXC configuration file set to index mode. So long as you have a DSKA0000.HFE file and an HXCSDFE.CFG set to index in the root of a FAT formatted USB drive then you should be getting a disk number '000' on the HxC, regardless of the floppy cable.

And yes, the HFE size will always be about 2MB regardless of source.
