.EII files not loading in .hfe format

Post by Plattmeister »

Hi,

Looking for some help please...looked through all forums and cant seem to get this working.

OK, I am using the following:

- HxC Floppy Emulator software v2.0.12.2 running on iMac with OS X v10.6.8
- SD HxC Floppy Emulator firmware v7.2.0
- Emu Emulator II+ HD
- SD card formatted to FAT32
- Source files are .EII (from the OMI/Northstar library)

I have been using the following process:

1. Place file named "emuiios.emuiifd" in source files folder before conversion
2. Check that SD HxC Floppy Emulator settings is showing HFE file interface mode as "Emu Shugart"
3. Click on Batch converter and select 'Target file format' as "HFE - SD HxC Floppy Emulator file format"
4. Select source directory with .EII files and "emuiios.emuiifd" file
5. Leave 'Treat input files as RAW files' box blank
6. Select target directory as SD card
7. Click the Convert button

This process seems to work and does convert the selected .EII files to the SD card in .hfe format, however, when I try to load the files into the Emulator II it will not read them and displays "Insert Perf Disk and Press Enter". The SD Floppy Emulator display shows the selected file name but does not move from "T:010/080 S:1".

I have tried various alternatives like changing the Target file format to 'HFE - Rev2 - Experimental' and changing the HFE file interface mode to 'Generic Shugart' but this makes no difference.

Please, please help me...its driving me bonkers!

Many thanks,

Lee

Is the floppy emulator reacting when you try to load something from the EmuII ? Jumper/switch setting ?

Lee,
Did you ever fix this problem? I am having the exact same problem and wondered what the solution might be.
Thanks

I copied the entire contents of the Emulator II image files to the root directory of the SD card. I load the OS 3.1 HD file and then try to load a sound image file, but it says "disk drive not ready"

Not sure what to do.

Jeff,
Here is the sequence of activity:
(1) I load the OS 3.1 from the HxC into the EII (I as using OS 3.1 HD) as I have a EII+HD
(2) I press "Disk" on the EIII and "1-8" shows in the EII display
(3) I select the sound I want to load in the HxC Floppy Emulator; the left light is lit on the HxC
(4) I press "1" on the EII to "Load Bank Disk" on the EII
(5) The EII display shows "insert Perf Disk and Press Enter" and the Enter button is flashing
(6) I press "Enter" on the EII; both lights on the HxC light up for a few seconds; then the right HxC light goes off and the left light on the HxC begins flashing; the EII display still shows "Insert Perf Disk and Press Enter" and the Enter button on the EII is still flashing.

Thanks
Keith

Hi

I don't think there's anything wrong with this EMUIIFD image.
But it's not a performance disk, it's a library disk.
So it only contains a set of voices, which can be imported in any preset with function 11.
Can you send me the HFE & EII + Os file used ?

Ok. Juno 106 Fat_emuiifd_hfe.hfe doesn't have the right format for the emu II, that's why it doesn't work.

Please provide me the original file (Juno 106 Fat.emuiifd)

Jeff,
The sound bank you made worked fine. I loaded the normal version 3.1 OS (not the FD version) and the sound image you made worked fine.
How did you create that sound HFE file in the HxC software?

Easy : just change the file extension to .EII (this is the right one) and drag & drop it on the main window or on the batch converter window.
Note : your OS file image (emuiios.emuiifd) must be in the same folder than your .EII files.
