Just got ref F not getting it to work

Post by aaking76 » Fri Apr 12, 2013 8:48 am

Hello Jeff,

After getting my 950 to work, I thought to try my emax...

It seems stuck on " Please insert disk"

If I reverse the floppy cable then the display shows nothing with all the lights on the machine on, like it is frozen...

The emulator seems to power on and work like my other one, but both red lights stay on...

Also, when we we installing it, we accidently put the power cable on wrong, and powered the machine on, and heard a pop, and a weird smell, so I am wondering if I fried my emulator...

The machine seems to work with the original floppy, so if anything I might have fried the emulator, although it seems to work, display, will page through images, and I can adjust settings, all seems well, but of course it is not actually working ...

Any help would be great, I hope I didn't blow 160 bucks....lol

Thanks

First :

-> Remove the SD Card -> Press select -> Choose " Clear eeprom"-> yes.

-> Set the Switch setting to ID0-A

-> Please use the emax images present in this file :

So I cleared the eprom, and loaded the images you provided in the root folder on the sd card...

Still is saying insert disk...

Should I reverse the cable again now that eprom is cleared?

Thanks

I reversed the floppy cable, and then all the lights on the emax go on, and the display is blank, but lit....

If I put the cable on the other way it will say insert disk....

both red lights are on and I can page through the files, and load images, appearing normally as my other one...

The emax will just sit there and say "Please insert disk"

Is there any diagnoses that I can do to make sure I didn't ruin anything?...

Like I said I might have reversed the power on accident...

So in this case please reverse the floppy cable.
If all HxC led are always on, the cable is probably is connected to the wrong way.

Anyway on Emax : Colored floppy cable wire = Pin 34/33.

Reconnect the floppy ribbon to the right way, and then the problem is solved...
