USB Gotek HxC will read but won’t save

Post by kerussm »

Hello guys, not sure if there is an answer for this issue but I couldn’t find it anyway.

My problem is with USB Gotek HxC reader.
I have connected it and copied hxc configuration file (standard)
From files with quick install disk images from hxc download tab (https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... Images.zip)
I have copied operating system 1.2 and named it dska0001.
I have named blank images dska0002, dska0003 etc
SP1200 loads up (hxc 001 image), play sounds, everything fine except the fact it won’t save.
I do change in reader to position 003, 004 etc and then press DISK on SP and command 9 to save.
It ask:
format disk - pressed yes
then
another one - pressed no
then it shows:
„Try again? y/n
Read/VeryfyError”

My jumper is MO position but also tried with moving it on S1.
I have tried to save on same image that loading up the system with samples as I thought these blank images are incorrect but with no luck :(
Thank you in advance!

There is two update files in "Next WIP Alpha firmware and tools" folder. I have updated 30334a, is the correct one? Which config file should I use and where jumper on gotek should be?

Hi,
1. HXCFEUSB_V3_0_33_4a.UPD < This is the correct file in the .zip for updating to the latest firmware.
2. I would set jumper to S0 instead of S1 or M0.
3. Try the config file, which you already tested,

Looking forward to hear, if you are now able to save on your Emu SP1200

And directly use the SP1200 images, without formatting them. There are preformated and don't need to be formatted :

Thank You!

Yeah, so i have uploaded correct file then :) I did one mistake, as I said my jumper was on S1. It was S0 and M0. Sp1200 don’t see gotek while on S1. I will need some time as got late shift at work. Will get back to you soon ok?

Jeff, can you just tell me which hxcsdfe file is correct? I was using Standard but there is also Auto and Inf(something). Is that file have any impact on saving itself?

Without LCD, use the indexed version. and name the file images DSKA0000.HFE, DSKA0001.HFE, DSKA0002.HFE...

Just tried the config file I had previously, without formatting the images, names was actually the same I had but I did downloaded again and overwrited them. But still not working. Tried Indexed mode and the same issu. Read/Verify error. Can we help each other somehow if it's a matter of firmware?

Quick question, did you try testing the config file (.CFG) which is provided in the “QuickInstall_FloppyDiskImages.zip” under the SDHxCFE_Emu_SP1200 folder?

Concerning matter of firmware, Jeff is working on developing this to make it compatible with most possible. You can follow the development here:

SP1200 write support fix (data write, not format !):
https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... rmware.zip

https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... _notes.txt

Thanks to kerussm for the tests ! :D
