Ok thanks for the picture.

Can you check this ?

1- Please check that the 2 pins in the square are not connected (this seems ok but...):

2- Go into the menu -> version and tell me what do you see.

This new firmware works fine on a CNC "computer" from Gravograph.
that was not the case with the firmware 1.6.0.0
(Some read errors at the end of the boot floppy image)
So the better support for (in my test) MFM 250kbits/s is really better. Thanks a lot !

But I was happy to use an old 256BM SD from SanDisk before this firmware, it was working perfectly,
now the HXC2001 is "reading FAT" forever...

Meaning for my 256MB SD Card that the:
"Issue with some sd card corrected : Incompatibility with some SD chipset corrected"
has stopped the use of this particular SD...

Anyway, I found a HAMA 512MB which is working with the firmware 1.7.1.2

Yes some user noticed a regression with some sdcard.
I will try to provide you another firmware to test.

I was wondering. How to imprint/flash the firmware? I mean - some idiot-guide would be nice.

___________________EDIT______________
Ah, seems like I found it:

1) Bootloader update (for users with a firmware below the version 1.2.0.0)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!! Warning : DO NOT CUT the power supply of the board during the bootloader programming ! !!!
!!! In case of power loss, the device may be unusable and need a factory reprogramming. !!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-> Copy the new bootloader file (HxC_SD_Bootloader_V1_0TOV1_1.upd) to a freshly formated FAT32 SDCard.
-> Insert the SDCard into the emulator
-> Press Left and Right buttons before power up and keep it pressed at least 1 seconds at power up.
-> Wait some seconds. When 2 leds are blinking (Sdcard access led and Floppy Access led) it's done !
(to be sure wait 1 minutes before removing the power supply).

After this the firmware must be flashed. (Please go to the step 2: Firmware update)

2) Firmware update

-> Copy the new firmware file (*.upd) to a freshly formated FAT32 SDCard.
-> Insert the SDCard into the emulator
-> Press Left and Right buttons before power up and keep it pressed at least 1 seconds at power up.
-> Wait some seconds .... its done !

Hi,

I have HxC with firmware 1.1.0.1... i have problems to update it... I see hear that pre 1.2.... versions need a bootloader to be updated prior to firmware upgrade... pls can you help. I have already bought new SDHC card, used freshly formated FAT32... the result seems to be the same.

Many thanks.

P.S. The HxC is connected to Sinclair QL

mhhh wait... You didn't update your emulators since 5/6 years and you want to jump to the current version ?
This sound to be a bad idea. Why to you want to update such old firmware ?
BTW the current version doesn't work on earlier boards without some hardware modification, please see the release notes for details.
Anyway if you want the update, please send me an email.

Hi Jeff,

I'm also in the same boat as some previous posters whereas I have two older SD HXC's with early firmware that I'm unable to update because of the outdated Bootloader. Please see the attached photos. I purchased these many years ago and am just now getting around to really using them.

Would you be able to send me the "HxC_SD_Bootloader_V1_0TOV1_1.upd" file?

And could you tell me the latest firmware I could safely use on these devices without hardware modification?

Thanks for your help!

... Steve

Code: Select all

25 February 2021: Firmware SD HxCFloppyEmulator v1.8.7.1 (beta)

     - "Config-Less" support : The HXCSDFE.CFG file is now optional.

You can now use the emulator without this file on the SDCard.

Note 1: Without this file the emulator is in "normal mode" / direct
               browsing mode.

Note 2: Without this file the last selected file position is not saved.

Reminder : You can setup the emulator with the embedded menu without
the need of any configuration file :
To access this menu, remove the SDCard and press the select
button. Once in the menu you can choose the option you want
                  to change.

     - System and hidden files and folders on the SDCard are now invisible on
the emulator. You shouldn't be annoyed anymore by non-HxC folders and
       files on the emulator. :)

     - Image auto-load disabled when the user press the left or right button :
-> Faster SDCard browsing, More consistent browsing behavior.
(On this point if you prefer the old/previous behavior, don't hesitate
to contact me to let me know : hxc2001 at hxc2001.com)
